Pioneer arrives at Springs Apartments
An artwork celebrating the life of pioneer settler Matilda Elizabeth Bennett has been installed at the Springs Apartments development in Bennett Springs.
The artworks by Pavel Perina have been commissioned by developer QUBE, in partnership with Erceg Management, to highlight Matilda’s story as the mother of 13 children and the wife of John Septimus Roe. Bennett Springs was named after Matilda, who kept her maiden name.
On the eastern wall of the development, more than 250 triangles create an abstract version of Matilda’s face, with a section missing to signify her strong connection to her often-absent explorer husband. On the western wall, a series of teardrop-shaped links represent the pioneer’s life and the lives of her children.
Mark Hector, Managing Director of developer QUBE, said the artworks not only paid tribute to the history of Bennett Springs, but they were also a reminder of the ties that bind families together.
“Many of the apartments sold to date have been bought by homebuyers who want to stay in the area close to family and friends,” Mr Hector said.
“Given the strong average price of a house in and around Bennett Springs, a home in the Springs Apartments development is a very affordable option.”
There is still a mix of one and two bedroom apartments available, with prices starting from $268,000, once the First Home Owner Grant has been taken into account.
Downsizers and investors have also bought apartments off the plan, recognising the convenience of living next to the Springs Shopping Centre, with cafes and restaurants, a gym, specialty shops and essential amenities on the doorstep.
“Visitors to our on-site display apartments tell us they are impressed with the quality and finish of the apartments, as well as the attractive pricing, the lock-and-leave potential, and the great access to amenities and public transport,” Mr Hector said.
The two display apartments are open on weekends or by appointment. Potential purchasers can see for themselves the light-filled spaces and quality specification, which includes stone benchtops, stainless steel cooking appliances, a dishwasher and dryer all included.
Homes at Springs Apartments range in size from 63sqm to 129sqm. Each one has sliding doors out to either a balcony or a spacious courtyard. There is also secure parking and storage.
Being developed by QUBE, in collaboration with Erceg Management, Springs Apartments comprises 36 apartments over three levels. Construction is on track for completion in September.
QUBE and Erceg Management completed the Springs Shopping Centre seven years ago. There are more than 30 retailers and service providers at the shopping centre, including a Woolworths supermarket, Jetts Fitness, speciality stores, Springs Tavern and Bottleshop, medical specialists, food outlets and the Acacia Hill Childcare Centre.
Springs Apartments is close to Whiteman Park, Noranda Sporting Complex, Bennett Springs Sports Field and Altone Park Golf Course. Centro Galleria, Altone Park Shopping Centre and Malaga Markets are all within easy reach, along with wineries and boutique breweries in the Swan Valley.
The Springs Apartments display apartment, on Bennett Springs Drive, off Beechboro Road North in Bennett Springs, is open 11am-1pm, Saturdays and Sundays.
